How to choose stockings that flatter your legs
For years, stylists and celebrities have used visual cues such as color, light, and patterns to create looks to enhance areas of a woman’s body and downplay unflattering parts. For example, want to appear taller and thinner? Give clothing that features vertical stripes or vertical seams a try to give the illusion of a longer, more slender body.
At VienneMilano, we understand that legs come in different shapes and sizes. That’s why we developed a collection of styles, designs, and colors to bring out the best of your gams! Hey, no one’s perfect — and we get that. Here are a few tricks on how to make your legs appear…
Longer
Vertical lines tend to make things look longer and taller. In our example, you can see that the line immediately elongates our model’s legs.
However, it’s not enough to have just one vertically placed line. The position and spacing of the lines are important as well. For example, take a look at ALESSIA Stripe Thigh Highs vs. ALBA Back Seam Stockings. The same model is featured in both image, and yet her legs appear slightly longer in ALESSIA. The more vertical lines are placed together, the longer and (slimmer) your legs will look.
To make your legs look longer, we recommend ALESSIA Stripe (left) and ALBA Back Seam (right).
Slender
There are no surprises: the color black can make you look slimmer. In fact, we would go one step further and recommend opaque stockings. Contrastingly, sheer stockings tend to reflect more light (compared to dark colors), and thus may not provide the same illusion as you would with black opaque stockings. To achieve a slender look for your legs, try wearing hosiery with 50–75 denier.
While black is always in, why limit yourself to just black hosiery when there’s an array of colors available to enhance your style? Other dark colors can create the same slimming illusion. Take ANDREA Dark Brown for example.
To make your legs look slender, we recommend CLAUDIA Black, and ANDREA Black or Dark Brown.
Fuller
Conversely, to make your legs look fuller, wider (and bolder) wear bright colors. Unlike dark colors, bright colors tend to attract more lights and therefore tend to make you look slightly bigger. An example of this is VANNA in mustard yellow (left) or any of the available vibrant colors.
Another trick to give the impression of fuller legs is to wear patterns. Patterns tend to convey complexity, which can trick the mind to think that your legs to look thicker. To achieve this look, try GIADA Art Deco (left).
To make your legs look fuller, we recommend VANNA, GIADA.
We hope our tips and tricks will help you get the best out of your legs! When you look fabulous, you will feel fabulous.
